Andrew Cyril Nolen, better known to loved ones as "Andy", Fortified with the Sacraments of Holy Mother Church on Tuesday November 3, 2026, at the age of 73. Preceded in death but reunited in Heaven with parents Julius A. and Adele, nee Beman, Nolen. Survived by beloved older sisters Marilyn (Dean R.) Ewing, Roberta (the late Lawrence M. Jr.) Wilson, and Francene (Dennis) Ewing. Dear uncle, great-uncle, and great-great-uncle to many; cherished cousin to many; and treasured friend to innumerable.
Andy was born in St. Louis, Missouri, joining his loving family in May of 1953. Following his graduation in 1971 from St. John's High School, Andy attended Rankin Technical College where his passion and skills as a mechanic were established and honed. Andy was employed as a mechanic by Bi-State Transit for forty years, which spoke not only to his dedication to his career, but also to his community and their safety.
Throughout his life, Andy was known for his endless generosity and incomparable kindness. Andy never met a stranger and would have shared his shirt off his back as easily as he shared his positivity. He was affectionately known as "Uncle Andy" to many in his life, as his loving and altruistic nature invited anyone that he met to feel like family.
Andy touched many lives through his open heartedness and attention to others' safety. We mourn our loss of a treasured soul and channel of God's love, but we celebrate that he is united with the Lord. May Andy rest in eternal peace.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are appreciated to a charity or organization of the donor's choice in honor of Andy and his widespread charitable contributions.
A visitation for Andy's family and friends to gather and share memories will be held on Wednesday November 11, 2026, from 4:00 PM until 8:00 PM at John L. Ziegenhein & Sons South City Chapel, 7027 Gravois Avenue St. Louis, MO 63116. His 10:00 AM funeral Mass will be held the following morning, November 12, 2026, at Cathedral Basilica of St. Louis, 4431 Lindell Boulevard St. Louis, MO 63108, where Andy loved to celebrate daily Mass as often as possible. Immediately following, graveside service and subsequent interment in Saints Peter and Paul Catholic Cemetery, near his beloved parents, Julius and Adele.
