Antonia C. Rothe, 96, of St. Louis, Missouri passed away on Monday, September 14, 2026, at Friendship Village Senior Care Community.  She was born in Springfield, Illinois on December 28, 1929, the daughter of Joseph and Frances (Sgro) Madonia.  She married Carl William Rothe on November 30, 1963; He preceded her in death on May 16, 2012.

Antonia was preceded in death by her parents, five brothers: Andrea, John, Vincent, Frank, and Sam. and three sisters: Rosalia Guarrella, Mary Frances Nestler, and Lucia Midiri.

She is survived by three sisters: Josephine (Lawrence) Romang, Theresa (Tom) Nicastro, and Margaret Passeri and many nieces, nephews who she loved and cherished.

Antonia was a fifty-year resident of Sherman Oaks, California moving to St. Louis in 2016. 

She was a graduate of St. John's School of Nursing in Springfield, Illinois and received a Master's Degree in Public Health from the University of California in Los Angeles where she was employed as Supervisor of Nursing.  In her retirement she was a volunteer at the Sherman Oak Library.  Ahd she was an Omsbudsman in the Los Angeles area advocating for seniors in nursing care.  Throughout her career, her life was in service to others.

She and Carl enjoyed travel, close friends, and family.  She was a lifelong photography enthusiast and a decoupage artist.  She was deeply loved and will be remembered for her strong and loving spirit.

Family has chosen cremation for final disposition.
