Arthur G. Zinselmeyer, Jr. was fortified with the Sacraments of Holy Mother Church on August 13th, 2023. Son of the late Arthur George Zinselmeyer, Sr. the late Virginia Zinselmeyer (Gruet) and the late Mary Spillane (Forst) Zinselmeyer; beloved husband and best friend of 54 years to Janet M. Zinselmeyer, nee Baldelli; dedicated father of Lisa (Steven) Vollmer and Gerianne (James) Evans; loving Papa of Janelle, Kendra and Kaden Vollmer, and Jonah and Lola Evans; proud big brother of 9 younger brothers and sisters. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, dear friends and countless others he touched during his lifetime and career.
Art led a courageous battle against AML (acute myeloid leukemia) and was very thankful during his health journey to Dr. David Abbott, Dr. Mhd Nabeel Rajeh, the nurses and staff at the SLU Cancer Center.
Art was a lifelong learner. Art earned both his bachelor’s and master’s degrees from Saint Louis University. He had a long history of educating and influencing an endless number of students at his Alma mater, St. Louis University High School where for many years he shared his love of history, leadership skills, and his passion for his beloved basketball as a coach and proud former member of the 1961 State Basketball Championship team at SLUH.
Art was a devoted family man and loved family get togethers. He believed in being kind to people and dedicated time to volunteer work such as Feed My People. He was a devout catholic and faithful disciple of Jesus Christ. Art’s complete commitment to everything he was involved in, and his infectious smile will be missed by many and will continue to be loved and remembered for many years to come.
