Betty Jean Arendes, (nee Wegener), entered into rest on June 29, 2025, in Saint Louis, Missouri, at the age of 73. Born on July 25, 1951, in Saint Louis, Missouri. Betty was a vibrant and devoted individual who touched the lives of many through her warmth and generosity.
Betty was the beloved wife of the late Robert “Bob” Charles Arendes, Jr. Together, they forged a life filled with love and laughter. Her devotion as a mother was evident in everything she did, particularly in her proud involvement with her children, Ted Arendes and Jennifer (Ryan) Hibdon, during their formative years. Betty dedicated countless hours to cheering them on during swimming practices and meets, creating memories that would last a lifetime.
Her role as a grandmother brought her immense joy, and she cherished the time spent with her grandchildren, Everleigh Hibdon, Grayson Hibdon, and Crosby Hibdon. She will forever be remembered alongside her late granddaughters, Charlotte and Lily Hibdon, whose light continues to shine in the hearts of their family.
Betty had a zest for life that was truly remarkable. Her love for the Christmas holiday was evident in her passion for decorating, bringing a festive spirit to all who knew her. She also found great joy in playing bunko with her friends, a hobby that showcased her social nature and love for camaraderie.
She was a beloved sister to John (Sue) Wegener and a devoted aunt to Jeff (Megan) Wegener, Michael (Lydia) Wegener, and Sarah (Stephanie) Wegener. She held a cherished place in the hearts of her family as a dear sister-in-law, godmother, great aunt, cousin, and friend, leaving an enduring legacy of love and connection.
Betty was preceded in death by her parents, the late John and Bernell (nee Trost) Wegener.
As we remember Betty Jean Arendes, we celebrate a life filled with love, family, and friendship. She will be deeply missed, but her spirit will continue to inspire those lucky enough to have known her.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, July 3, 2025, from 5pm until services 7pm John L. Ziegenhein & Sons South County, 4830 Lemay Ferry Road. Private Entombment at Mount Hope Cemetery and Mausoleum.
