Carolyn Henson was a strong, devoted, and hard-working woman who raised three daughters on her own, never allowing life’s challenges to hold her back. Raised by deaf parents, she learned both to speak and to use sign language at a young age, often serving as their interpreter for phone calls, doctor visits, shopping trips, and school conferences. These early responsibilities shaped her strength, compassion, and resilience.
Driven by a deep desire to help others, Carolyn put herself through nursing school and built a meaningful career in healthcare. She was a loving mother to her three daughters—Michelle, Lori, and Julie—and dedicated her life to caring for her family.
After the heartbreaking loss of her oldest daughter, Michelle, Carolyn stepped in without hesitation to help raise her 18-month-old granddaughter, Melissa. Her love and commitment never wavered. During her 31-year marriage, she also welcomed and cared for her stepchildren—Patricia, Tracy, and Marci—as her own.
Carolyn was preceded in death by her parents, Gwendolyn Smith (née Linxwiler) and Walter Smith; her husband, Mearl Henson; and her daughters, Michelle, Lori, and Julie.
She is survived by her beloved granddaughter, Melissa Wrombel and her grandson Nicholas Robertson.
To know Carolyn was to know unconditional love and unwavering support—she was always in your corner, no matter what. She was also the best bingo partner anyone could ask for, and she had a well-known love for Diet Coke. The way her face lit up at the mention of one was unforgettable—who needed a Klondike bar when you had a Diet Coke? She was also an avid Coca-Cola collector, gathering countless items over the years, each one bringing her joy.
Carolyn touched the lives of everyone she met. She was truly one of a kind—the best grandma anyone could ever ask for—and she will never be forgotten. She will be loved always.
