It is with sadness that I announce the passing of, my wife, Cheryl Faye (Compton) Wolf, age 64. Cheryl was someone who found joy in melodies, comfort in lyrics, and happiness in sharing music with everyone she loved. She passed on Sunday, December 14, 2025. She lived with her husband of forty-three years, Jonathon Edward Wolf, and their two precious dogs she adored, LuPita and Ellie Mae. Cheryl and Jonathon were married December 18, 1982.
Cheryl was born in Yakima, Washington on December 19, 1961 to her parents, Norman K. and Della L. Compton (now deceased). She was also proceeded in death by her older sister, Naomi Yvonne (Compton) Ollenberger. Cheryl is survived by her husband, Jonathon, and her older brother, Clifford Dwane Compton of Sacramento, California, and her nieces and nephews: Jack, Nick (Jess), Mandi (Josh), Jessica (Nick), Jennifer (Travis), Jeanette, and Joseph, and two great nephews, Griffin and Connor, and one great niece, Lila.
Cheryl was a member of the Apostolic Faith Church of St. Louis. As a member, she was a dedicated Sunday School teacher, played clarinet in the orchestra, sang solos and alto in the choir. She had the responsibility, privilege, and the passion for making sure that every child in Sunday School was recognized by getting a birthday card from her in the mail or in person. Cheryl, along with her husband, created a puppet ministry, which included writing the curriculum and the handbook for puppeteers. She wrote hundreds of puppet scripts, many of which showed her crazy, loveable sense of humor. She had many funny characters that were favorites, but her most favorite puppet character was a crazy girl puppet she named “Penelope P. Parsnip.” Cheryl, along with her husband, worked as a team in the music department for over forty years. She was the main pianist and accompanist, and piano remained her biggest passion until the day she died. She loved nothing more than encouraging and inspiring young pianists to use their talents for the Lord's service because she learned as a young girl that it that it paid to serve Jesus.
A visitation will be held to honor Cheryl at John L. Ziegenhein & Sons South County location, 4830 Lemay Ferry Road, on Sunday, January 4, 2026, from 2:00 pm until 6:00 pm. A visitation will also be held on Monday, January 5, 2026, at Apostolic Faith Church, 5000 Kerth Road. From 12:00 pm until services at 1:00 pm.
While Cheryl’s Earthly song may have ended, we take comfort in knowing that the melody and rhythm of her laughter and her life will continue in our hearts and will echo through the joyous halls of Heaven.
