Colleen Epstein (nee Wynn), 86, peacefully passed away Sunday, November 13, 2022. Colleen was born in St. Louis on February 13, 1936. She attended Resurrection Parish grade school and Notre Dame High School. As a teen, Colleen enjoyed spending time with her family, roller skating, seeing movies, and attending dances. In 1956, Colleen married John Epstein, raising their four children and fostering several more in Crestwood, MO. John and Colleen celebrated more than 65 years of marriage together. Colleen worked throughout her adult life and was most proud of her fifteen years as an administrative assistant at Washington University Medical School.
Colleen is survived by her husband John; son Stephen (Diane) and three daughters Jean Fiala (Joe), Michelle Radomski (Greg), and Sandy Shrader along with her sibling Dianne Smith (Ken). Colleen has eight grandchildren: Christina (Tina), Jennifer, Lindsay, Michael, Angelina, Kevin, Beth (Liz), and Joseph, and five beautiful great-grandchildren. Colleen was preceded in death by her parents, Hazel and Harold Wynn, her twin sister Carol McEvoy and her older brother, Robert.
Colleen was an avid walker, volunteer, and bargain hunter that loved time with her kids and hosting family parties. She always had an appetite for pizza and never turned down a sweet. Colleen’s volunteer work included serving at St. Vincent De Paul, St. Anthony’s hospital as well as caring for her neighbors and friends.
Her body has been donated to Washington University Medical School.
A Celebration of Life Mass will be held on Friday, November 18 at 11:00 am at Assumption Catholic Church, 4725 Mattis Rd., St. Louis, MO 63128. A lunch will follow mass at the parish. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Affinia Healthcare Foundation, PO Box 551, St. Louis, MO 63188-0551.
