Dale M. Twillmann, a dedicated entrepreneur, loving family man, and respected Vietnam Army veteran, passed away peacefully on May 15, 2026, in his birthplace of Saint Louis, Missouri. Born on December 8, 1944, Dale's life was marked by devotion to his family, a strong military service, and an entrepreneurial spirit that led him and his two brothers to continue the legacy of their father in the ice manufacturing company, a testament to his industrious nature and commitment to his community.
A proud graduate of Riverview Gardens High School, Dale combined his educational foundation with the discipline he honed as a Sergeant in the Army during the Vietnam War. His military service remained a defining chapter of his life, underscoring his dedication and courage.
Beyond his professional and military accomplishments, Dale had a rich tapestry of hobbies and interests. He was known for the meticulous care he took while tinkering with his train set in the basement, which reflected his hands-on approach and eye for detail. An active member of his volleyball group. Moreover, Dale had a passion for traveling and enjoyed going on cruises, exploring new destinations and creating cherished memories along the journey with his late wife. He treasured spending time with his family above all else, embodying the warmth and affection that defined his personal life.
Dale is mourned by his devoted children, Todd (Jackie) Twillmann, and Tami (Tony) Melton, who carry forward their father's legacy of strength and compassion. He was a cherished grandfather to Alexis King and her husband Dalton, Sarah Melton, Alana Twillmann, and Rebekah Melton, each of whom brought immense joy to his life. Dale was also a beloved son-in-law to Mary Weiss, who stood by him with steadfast love. His family bonds were built upon respect and mutual support, and the memory of his late wife, Karen (Weiss) Twillmann, lovingly known by all, remains a poignant part of his story. He also leaves behind memories of Eugene Weiss, his father-in-law.
Services to honor Dale’s life will be held at John L. Ziegenhein and Sons Funeral Homes - South County Chapel at 4830 Lemay Ferry Rd, St. Louis, MO 63129. The visitation will take place on May 26, 2026, from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m., followed by a funeral service at 11:15 a.m. The interment will follow with military honors at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery.
