Dennis W. Corcoran

February 1, 1941 — January 10, 2024

Dennis W. Corcoran, affectionately known as Denny, passed on January 10, 2024, in his hometown of Saint Louis. He was a remarkable individual who led a fulfilling and vibrant life. Born on February 1, 1941, Denny was raised in Saint Louis by his loving parents, the late William and the late Barbara Corcoran. Alongside his two sisters, the late Patricia and Barbara, and his brother Kevin, he experienced a childhood filled with love, laughter, cherished memories.

Denny's intrinsic passion for family defined him as a person. He married the love of his life, Carol, and they spent an incredible 53 years together until her passing in 2017. Together they embraced the joys and challenges of raising their three children: Tracy (Jeff) Pauli, Kelly (Jeff) Kofron, and Kyle (Carrie) Corcoran. As their children grew and embarked on their own paths in life, Denny took immeasurable pride in watching them flourish. However, his joy multiplied when he witnessed the growth of his six grandsons – Matt Brewer, Erik Brewer, Cory Kofron, Shayne (Kristen) Kofron, Jack Corcoran, and Alec Kofron – as well as his granddaughter Maya Corcoran. The bonds he formed with each member of his family were unbreakable pillars that brought immense happiness to his days.

Professionally, Denny dedicated many years to working as an insulator for Union Electric before retiring at the age of 55 in 1996. While insulation may have been his trade by day, he possessed an extraordinary talent for construction and fixing almost anything that crossed his path. Known for his resourcefulness and willingness to lend a hand to others in need, Denny became the go-to handyman within his community.

Education played a significant role in Denny's life. In 1959, he graduated from St. Mary's High School with a passion for sports. Throughout his high school years, he actively participated in football, basketball, and baseball. His commitment to sports earned him a place in the St. Mary's Hall of Fame in 2000, a testament to his extraordinary athleticism and dedication.

Denny also served his country as a proud member of the United States Navy from 1960 to 1964. During his military service, he embodied honor, bravery, and loyalty – qualities that defined him both as a serviceman and as an individual.

Sports held a special place in Denny's heart. As an avid fan, he passionately supported the St. Louis football and baseball Cardinals and the St. Louis Steamers. Throughout his life, he actively participated in various athletic activities such as bowling, softball, golf, and soccer. However, his love for sports extended far beyond personal participation. Denny spent countless hours coaching and cheering on his three children in their sporting endeavors. Furthermore, fortune smiled upon him as his seven athletic grandkids joined the fray. He embraced the role of their biggest supporter with unwavering enthusiasm, becoming their number one fan in the stands.

One of Denny's proudest accomplishments was undoubtedly his enduring marriage to Carol. Their journey took them to Florida for the first two years of retirement, where they reveled in all that life had to offer. Upon their return to St. Louis, fate had different plans for them when Carol was diagnosed with Alzheimer's disease. For 18 years, Denny heroically stepped forward as her primary caregiver—a role he fulfilled with unfaltering dedication and boundless patience. Never once did he complain or falter in ensuring her comfort and well-being until her passing.

Surrounded by an immense circle of loved ones who cherish his memory are Tracy (Jeff) Pauli; Kelly (Jeff) Kofron; Kyle (Carrie) Corcoran; Matt Brewer; Erik Brewer; Cory Kofron; Shayne (Kristen) Kofron; Jack Corcoran; Alec Kofron; Maya Corcoran; and step-grandchildren Alex Pauli and Mike Pauli. Additionally, Denny is survived by his sister Barbara (Ken) Svejkosky and his brother Kevin (John Foster) Corcoran; and was proceeded in death by his dear sister Patricia (Don) Wickey.
