Dolores M. Halley

Dolores M. Halley (née Hirbe), 90, passed away peacefully on Friday, December 19, 2025.

She was born to the late Fred and Margaret Hirbe (née O’Brien) and was the beloved wife of the late George D. Halley from 1982 until his death in 1997. Dolores was a devoted and loving mother to Lawrence (Tanya) Covington of High Ridge, Missouri; Laura (Jim) Poletti of Dubai, UAE; Christine (Herb) Witte of Sandy, Utah; Gina (Steven) Wright of Breese, Illinois; and Craig T. (Ruth) Covington of St. Louis, Missouri.

Dolores was a cherished grandmother to Samantha (Kevin) Restoff, Donna (David) Garcia, Herbert Witte III, Sarah (James) Huber, Rachel Witte, Christa Millidge, Sarah Poletti, Courtney Poletti, Benjamin Poletti, and Grace Covington; and was blessed with eight great-grandchildren.

She is also survived by her dear sisters, Virginia Costello (the late John) of Collinsville, Illinois, and Margaret Scharf (the late Howard) of Belleville, Illinois.

She was preceded in death by her loving companion Fred Banks.

Dolores enjoyed cooking and baking desserts for those she loved, spending time reading, listening and dancing to music, and living her life grounded in strong faith. Above all, she loved being with her family.

A memorial service to celebrate Dolores’s life will be held at a later date and will be respectfully private.

She will be remembered for her faith, kindness, and unwavering devotion to her family and all those whose lives she touched in countless ways.
