Donald William Anthony Fortified with the Sacraments of Holy Mother Church on Sunday May 24, 2026, at the age of 84, only days away from celebrating his 85th birthday.
Born on May 29, 1941, in St. Louis, Missouri, Don was the precious son of the late Gustave and the late Anna, nee Hardebeck, Anthony; dear brother of siblings the late Lorraine Votino, the late Marlene (the late Mick) Suarez, the late Annette (surviving John) Jamboretz, and the late Ronald (the late Nancy) Anthony; beloved husband of the late JoAnne Anthony, nee Werner; devoted stepfather to Stephanie Poe and Jake (Sarah, nee Green) Muniz; cherished Pawpaw of Sara (Tara Keiner) Poe, T.J. (Darian, nee Roe) Poe, Jacob Muniz, Sophia Muniz, Melina Muniz, and Joseph Muniz. A beloved uncle, cousin, and friend to many, Don is survived by a myriad of loved ones, but we celebrate that he is reunited with those who have waited so long to greet him
A proud alumnus of St. Mary’s High School in South City St. Louis, Don lived a life marked by dedication and quiet strength. During the turbulent years of the Vietnam War, he served with honor in the Air Force, where his meticulous attention to detail and steadfast commitment to organization earned the respect and admiration of those around him.
A true son of St. Louis, Don’s heart beat passionately for his hometown teams—the Cardinals on the baseball field and the Blues on the ice—capturing the spirit of community and unwavering loyalty. His legacy is one of service, devotion, and an enduring love for the city that shaped him.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are appreciated to St. Louis Children’s Hospital
