Donald Francis entered into rest on Monday, June 24, 2024, at the age of 86; son of the late George W. Francis and the late Gertrude nee Lawson; dedicated husband of Lucy Francis nee Bagwell; dear brother of Cathy Ward, Shirley Kenningham and the late George Francis Jr.; loving father to the late Kevin Francis; cherished uncle to many nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, and a great great nephew; grandfather to a beloved granddaughter.
Born in St. Louis, Missouri, Donald’s love for golf was legendary. He spent countless hours on the greens, perfecting his swing and sharing laughter with fellow golfers.
As a young man, Donald served his country with honor in the United States Army. His camaraderie with fellow soldiers and dedication to duty shaped his character. He often regaled friends and family with tales of his military adventures, always punctuated by a hearty laugh.
Beyond the fairways and barracks, Donald had a soft spot for baseball. The Saint Louis Cardinals held a special place in his heart. Whether cheering from the stands or following every game on TV, he reveled in their victories and mourned their losses. His loyalty to the team was unwavering.
But perhaps Donald’s greatest achievement was his enduring marriage to Lucy. For 57 years, they weathered life’s storms together. Their love was a beacon, guiding them through joyous celebrations and quiet moments. Their laughter echoed through their home, a testament to a love that transcended time.
In the twilight of his years, Donald reflected on a life well-lived. He leaves behind cherished memories, a legacy of laughter, and a heart full of love. May he find eternal fairways in the great beyond, forever swinging his metaphorical golf club under the azure skies.
Rest in peace, dear Donald. Your spirit lives on in the hearts of those who loved you. ⛳️🌟
