Age 89. Born in St Louis MO to Fred E and Ruth Mound Gutmann. Devoted and beloved husband and best friend of Phyllis (nee Edwards) Gutmann for 46 years.
Beloved stepfather of Butch (Jamie) Signorino and Kimberly (Raymond) Swartz. Grandpa of Sarah (Steve) Castle, Leslie Hockman, Laura (Daniel) Cancel, Samuel (Jessica) Signorino, Amanda White (Dwayne Loos) and the late Jeremiah Swartz. Dear Great Grandpa of Ryan and Emma Castle, Caleb, Abby, Madison and Camden Cunigan, Elliott and Gabriella Cancel, Cadence and Kelsey Signorino, Junior and Rew White, and Orion and Alyssa Loos. Dear brother-in-law of LeeAnna (Vic) Main, Patsy (the late William) Papa, the late LaDonne (the late John) Hoague, the late William C Edwards and the late James E Edwards.
Don was General Corporate Manager of the Alton Brick Company in Maryland Heights for more than 20 years. He was a proud U.S.Marine who served in the Korean War with the 1st Marine Division and was in the Nov-Dec 1950 Chosin Reservoir Campaign. Don served as Commander of Korean War Veterans Assoc Chapter #1 St Louis for 23 years. He was also a member of Gateway Chapter, the Chosin Few; 1st Marine Div Assoc; Marine Corps League-Pvt Geo Phillips Det; and American Legion Post 156.
Services will be at Ziegenhein and Sons Funeral home, 7020 Gravios, St Louis. Visitation will be Tuesday, 11 April from 5:00 to 8:00 pm. Burial will follow on 12 April at 12:15pm at Sunset Memorial Park.
