Donna Schumann

Donna R. Schumann passed away on Wednesday, July 16, 2025, at the age of 80, reuniting with her devoted husband Jim Schumann.

Donna was preceded in death by her beloved parents Louis E. and Marjorie L. Konc (nee Mitchell), her dear sister Maria L. Matesevac, and her treasured great-grandson Joseph.

Survived by her dear children Gerald (Nina) Abernathy, Adam (Kristin) Abernathy, Amanda (Craig) Bailey, and dear stepchildren Missy (Jim) Jaycox, Tony Schumann, and Scott (Toni) Schumann; her cherished siblings Richard “Sonny” (Peggie) Konc, Louis (Carol) Konc, Annette (Stephen) Vertin, and John (Debbie) Konc; 21 grandchildren, 8 great-grandchildren, and many other dear relatives and friends.

Donna was born on Christmas in 1944, an auspice to the goodwill and joy she would spread throughout her life. Donna dedicated over 20 years of her life as the Director at the South County Chamber of Commerce. Above all else, Donna cherished her family and treasured each moment spent with them.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are appreciated and can be made to The Backstoppers in Donna’s honor.

A visitation to honor Donna’s life will be held on August 1, 2025, at John L. Ziegenhein & Sons County Parlors, from 4:00 PM until 8:00 PM. A funeral for Donna will be held the following morning at the same location, beginning at 10:00 AM, with interment in Resurrection Catholic Cemetery at 11:30 AM to follow.
