Donnie L. Brooks, a dedicated machinist in the automotive industry, known for his incredible talent in fixing things, has entered into rest on Tuesday, October 17, 2023, at the age of 76. Born on October 10, 1947, in Saint Louis, Mo., Donnie was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend to those who were fortunate enough to know him.

From an early age, Donnie displayed a natural knack for repairing and tinkering with various mechanical objects. It was evident that he had a true passion for fixing things and making them work again. This passion led him to pursue a career as a machinist in the automotive industry where he thrived and became highly regarded for his exceptional skills.

Donnie found solace in a number of hobbies and interests. Fishing and hunting allowed him to connect with nature and find peace in the outdoors. Additionally, he possessed a kindness that touched the lives of everyone he encountered.  He was funny and loved to joke around with others. His wit and lighthearted nature made him a joy to be around. Donnie was always there to lend a helping hand or offer words of encouragement and support to those in need.

Beyond his work and personality, Donnie deeply cherished his family. He was married to his beloved wife Paula for an incredible 57 years—a testament to their enduring love and commitment to one another. Their bond served as an inspiration to all who knew them.

Donnie was proceeded in death by his parents Arthur and Opal Brooks. He is proceeded in death by his late wife Paula Brooks. He was a devoted father of Thomas Brooks and Robert (Kim) Brooks. He will forever be remembered as a loving grandfather to Mariah, Mikey, Natalie, Tommy, and as a cherished Dog Dad to sweet Bailey. Donnie was survived by his sisters Erma and Barb; and proceed in death by his sister Dorothy and his brothers Albert, William and Jim.

Donnie's proudest accomplishment in life was undoubtedly the strong bond he shared with his family. His love for them knew no bounds, and he always prioritized their happiness and well-being above all else. Donnie leaves behind a legacy of love, laughter, and resilience that will continue to inspire and guide his family in the years to come.

Donnie's dedication to serving others extended beyond his immediate circle of family and friends. He proudly served his country as a member of the United States Army, demonstrating his unwavering commitment to protecting the freedoms we hold dear.

To honor Donnie's life, visitation services will be held on Monday, October 23, 2023, at John L. Ziegenhein and Sons Funeral Homes - South County Chapel in St. Louis, MO, from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM. The funeral service will take place the following day on Tuesday, October 24, 2023, at the same location starting at 10:00 AM. Following the funeral service, interment will be held at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery in St. Louis at 11:30 AM.

In this time of mourning, let us remember Donnie L. Brooks as a man who brightened our lives with his humor, kindness, and unwavering love for his family. May he rest in eternal peace knowing that he has left an indelible mark on those who were fortunate enough to have known him.
