Dorothy Jane Slavik, 99 (nee Kakta), died peacefully in her home surrounded by loved ones on January 7, 2023.  She was born in St. Louis, MO, on August 27, 1923, and was the daughter of the late Frank and Marie, (nee Voracek) Kakta Sr.  She was preceded in death by her first husband, George Lockos (died in action during WWII), her son, Tallis Lockos & her beloved husband of 61 years William Slavik. Dorothy is survived by daughter Peggy (Richard) Thomson & daughter in law Cheryl Lockos.  She was grandmother of Nicole (Alexander IV) Clark, Tallis John (Jenny) Lockos, Kyle (Cipi) Lockos, Cherish Thomson, Heather (Gavin) Maus, and Tina Gualberto; great-grandmother of MacKenzie, Tallis (Mitta), Ayu, Zion, Alex, Liam, Alexandria, Olivia, Madelyn, Nicholas, Alexander V, Oliver, Juan & Sofia.  Dorothy was great, great-grandmother to Ciano, and sister of the late Marie Watkins, Agnes Zeller, and Frank Kakta Jr.

Dorothy enjoyed a long life reaching the age of 99 in good spirits with plenty of energy & spunk.   She took pride in keeping a very tidy home and working in her yard up to her last week of life.  In the earlier years, Dorothy and Bill had a joyous lake life with the company of her siblings and friends at Clearwater Lake.  She always embraced the simpler pleasures in life with fishing always at the top.  Dorothy loved the mental stimulation of word games & watching game shows and relaxed by reading cowboy novels & watching cowboy shows. During her long life she was rewarded with many experiences and being able to meet her great, great, grandchild was one of her favorites. Dorothy was a long-time member of St. Lucas Evangelical Lutheran Church.
