Dorothy Vinyard

May 11, 1933 — July 12, 2022

Vinyard, Dorothy “Dottie” of St. Louis, MO, born May 11, 1933, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, July 12, 2022 at deGreeff Hospice House.

Dottie was an amazing wife of 59 years to the late Louis “Lou” Vinyard, beloved mother and mother-in-law to daughter, Stacey and her husband, Mark Witte, sweetest grandma to Sarah and Olivia Witte, dear cousin, aunt, great-aunt, godmother and friend to so many. Dottie was preceded in death by her dear parents, George and Persefoni Josef, and her dear brother, Jim Josef, and his wife Ellen.

Dottie graduated from Roosevelt High School in January 1952. Shortly after, she worked at Union Electric for 10 years, making lifelong friends, including Stacey’s godmother, Maria Cutsoukos. Dottie met Lou in 1955, Lou asked her out on a date a year later, and they were married on her 24th birthday.

Dottie was a great cook and avid baker who loved to entertain. When she got tired of being a “golf widow”, Dottie took lessons and learned how to play golf. She and Lou enjoyed many years playing golf together at various courses in Missouri, Illinois, Arkansas, Florida and others. Together, they hosted and enjoyed many fun vacations with family over the years to some great places. Their love of Disney was passed on to Stacey and Mark and their family. Dottie and Lou also fulfilled a dream along with Stacey and Mark to own a condo at the Jetty East in Destin, FL. With friends, they also had fun going to local casinos/buffets, as well as trips to Tunica and Biloxi MS.

Dottie was an active member of St. Philip’s United Church of Christ in Concord Village since the early years of the church where she served on several committees, sang in the choir, helped with Vacation Bible School, and attended various Bible studies. In lieu of flowers, memorials to deGreeff Hospice House and Mercy South Hospice are appreciated.
