Douglas Eugene Harris

Douglas “Doug” Eugene Harris. 69, passed away on Saturday, July 25th, 2026. Born November 30th, 1956, in Hutchison, Kansas to the late Charles Douglas and the late Lavina “Buibs” Harris, nee Connors. He is survived by his beloved wife Christine M. Harris, nee Heidebur, dear children; Cody (Cassie) Harris, Pam Williams, Calvin “C.J.” Lankford, and James “Jim” (Carol) Lankford, and cherished grandchildren; Allirinda “Alli” Bishop, Jasper and Leland Lankford, Paisley Harris, and Allison Nelson. He was preceded in death by his brother Timothy “Tim” Harris. Also surviving are many brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law; Butch and Ursula Wanko, Bud Heidebur, Kevin and Shelly Heidebur, and Michelle “Miki” Harris; nephews Brad and Jake Harris, as well as many cousins and dear friends.

Doug retired from the Veterans Administration after many years working as an A/C equipment mechanic and was a long-time member of the Refrigeration Service Engineers Society (RSES). He was a devoted husband, father, Paw-Paw and uncle involved in many aspects of his family’s life. He enjoyed taking care of his grandkids, listening to music and spending time outdoors with his wife, and rooting on the St. Cardinals. When his family was younger, he helped coach little league baseball, camping, and taking family vacations.

Memorials are appreciated in lieu of flowers to; Cardinal Glennon Children’s Hospital Foundation, St. Louis Children's Hospital Foundation, or St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, July 30, 2026, from 4-8pm at John L. Ziegenhein and Sons Funeral Home South County Chapel, 4830 Lemay Ferry Rd., St. Louis, MO 63129. Funeral services will be held at 10 am on Friday, July 31, 2026, also at the funeral home. Interment will be private in Herculaneum Cemetery.
