Douglas Gale Mooney of Arnold, MO was united with his Lord and Savior on Tuesday, August 8, 2023, A service of celebration of life will be at the South County Church of Nazarene on Sunday, August 13, 2023, at 3:00 p.m. 

 

Doug was born on September 22, 1941, to Jewell and Janie (nee Anderson) Mooney in Rector, MO.  He graduated from Salem High School in 1959.

 

Doug married the love of his life, Carol June Belyew on October 1, 1960. There were five children born of the marriage: Phillip Lee, Michele Lynn, Gregory Ray, Steven Douglas, and Kristopher John.  Doug and June were married 62 years at the time of Doug’s death.

 

Doug was a radio broadcaster in St Louis, Rolla, and Salem, Missouri.   He worked in radio for many years before taking a job with the State of Missouri.  He retired in 2002 as a Supervisor for the Employment Security Division. Doug was an ordained minister with the Assemblies of God Organization. He also pastored churches in the 1980’s.  At the time of his death, Doug was attending South County Church of the Nazarene in St Louis, MO.

 

Doug cherished his family.  He, along with his wife and children, spent most holidays together.   Watching and participating in sports was always a part of Doug’s life.  Doug played baseball as a child and helped teach his brother how to play the game. Doug coached his sons’ baseball teams and umpired when needed.  Much time was spent was watching his St Louis Cardinals and NASCAR races.

 

Doug is survived by his wife, Carol June (nee Belyew), daughter, Michele (Mark) Alexander, of Columbia, MO; sons, Greg Mooney, Steve Mooney (Julie) of St Louis, Mo. and Kris Mooney of Palm Springs, CA;  grandchildren, Legan (Erin) Mooney,  Meghan Alexander, Samantha (Jordan) Patton, Kassidy Mooney, Dylan Mooney, and Melanie Mooney, sister Bonnie (Joe) McKee, and brother Leo (Tina) Mooney.  He was preceded in death by his parents, a son, Phillip Mooney, and daughter in law, Jo Anne Mooney.
