Emblem Emblem

Edward John Reinhardt Sr. Born 7/22/1923. Went to be with the Lord Jesus on 12/26/2025 at the age of 102 years. Preceded in death by his parents John and Theresa Reinhardt, sister Adele, and his beloved wife Doris. He leaves behind his daughter Jill Dickerson (Jeff), son Edward Reinhardt Jr. (Laura) He was a loving grandfather to Mindy Roberts (Walter), Lauren Smith (Tyler), Abby Strackbein (Aaron). Beloved great grandfather to Miranda Roberts, Carter, Sawyer, Kennedy Smith, and Meredith Strackbein. He also leaves behind multiple cousins, nieces and nephews and their children.

After graduating from Roosevelt High School, Ed volunteered for the Army during WWII. He then attended Washington University with the hope of becoming an architect. After one year, his father asked him to join Reinhardt Printing Company. Ed headed the company throughout his life, supplying many St. Louis businesses and organizations with type set printing. He closed the doors to the family-owned business that was established by his father in 1923 when he retired at age 90.

He met his wife Doris on a blind date. Though Doris initially said she didn’t like Ed, they married soon after their first date. They had a long and loving marriage of 68 years. Doris passed away 7 years before Ed. He always said he “missed that gal”. We are glad they are together again in Heaven.

He grew up spending summers with his mother at Coldwater Outing and Game Preserve, which held a special place in his heart. He was a passionate trombone player throughout his years at Roosevelt High School. Ed played with the All-City Band, School Band and School Orchestra. After graduating in 1941, he then continued his passion for trombone by performing with The Dick Wetherill Orchestra in St. Louis at many venues including the fabulous Chase Park Plaza, joined by his lifelong friend Gene Richter. Ed was also an avid stamp collector, a hobby that began at age 10 and continued throughout his life. He was at his stamp desk just days prior to his passing. He amassed a massive collection that filled multiple 5 drawer file cabinets.

We will miss his smile, his sense of humor and the unconditional love and friendship that he showered on his family and friends. We will truly miss him and always be grateful for the gift God gave us in Edward Reinhardt.
