Erica Renee Wright-Riegert
October 23, 1979 – July 1, 2023
Erica was born on October 23, 1979 in Saint Louis, Missouri to Brenda Smith and Scott Smith. She grew up playing softball, cheerleading, singing in choirs, and dancing, including ballet, tap and jazz. Erica graduated from Fox High School. Thereafter, she followed her love of makeup, hair and beauty, earning her cosmetology license. Erica went on to have two boys; she relished being a mom, from creating special birthday memories, to baking holiday treats, capturing first day of school moments, and engaging in their many school and sport activities. Her love of her family and the life she made with and for them was sincere, full and worthy.
Erica had a vivacious laugh, that shined through her eyes. Her smile was knowing and beautiful, befitting of her trademark “rose bud” lips. She cherished a good book, particularly one filled with suspense and intrigue, a chilled glass of white wine, sunrises and sets, a steaming cup of coffee in the morning, and a crackling fire in the evening. Her passion for travel took her to the mountains, the desert, beaches and coastlines, and her favorite of all places, the ocean. Erica’s love of photos and picture-taking captured countless of those treasured moments.
Throughout her battle with cancer, Erica exemplified the meaning of living life to its fullest. She treasured every moment, never hesitating to ensure that those who surrounded her did the same. Erica’s spirit, positivity, grace and courage were magnificent and awe-inspiring.
Erica was a treasured daughter, admired sister, adoring wife, devoted mother, and loyal friend. She cherished those relationships with all her heart. Erica was an absolute gem and will be greatly missed.
Erica leaves behind her father, Peter Scott Smith; step-mother, Barbara Smith, husband, Jeremy Riegert; sons, Tyler Wright and Talan Wright; step-children, Dominic Riegert, Sophie Riegert, and Brie Riegert; sister, Jessica Smith-Winchester (Buzz); step-sisters, Sarah Dippel and Christy Dippel; and was predeceased by her mother, Brenda Smith.
