Frank L. Sophie Sr.

Frank L. Sophie Sr., age 77, peacefully fell asleep in Jesus on Saturday, June 21, 2025. He was the beloved son of the late James Burkett and the late Esther Sophie (née Scholl).

Frank was the devoted husband of Joyce Sophie (née Mueller), his beloved partner and best friend for 54 beautiful years. Their marriage was a shining example of love, commitment, and faith, and together they built a life centered around family, laughter, and shared adventures.

A proud and loving father, Frank, is survived by his children: Angie Werkmeister (Mike), Frank Sophie Jr. (Pamela, née Ramsey), Dan Sophie (Sara, née Clendenin), Mike Sophie (Laura, née Thias), and Mark Sophie (Amy Thomas). He was a cherished grandfather to Andrew Werkmeister, Matthew Werkmeister, Ryan Sophie, Emma Sophie, Lydia Sophie, Nick Sophie, and Mia Sophie, all of whom brought him immense joy and pride.

Frank lived life to the fullest. Frank was part owner of Southern Metal Processing for 40 years, where he also served as Institute of Scrap Recycling Industry chair. He had a deep love for golf, fishing, bowling, music, traveling and coaching. He especially enjoyed going out to eat and never missed a chance to cheer on his favorite sports teams. Above all, Frank treasured the time spent with his family—his happiest moments were those shared with his grandchildren, creating memories that will be cherished forever.

He will be remembered for his warm heart, his sense of humor, and his unwavering devotion to those he loved. Frank made a lasting impact, not only through his work, but through his generosity, humor and dedication to family and community. Frank’s legacy of love, laughter, and loyalty will live on in the hearts of all who knew him.
