Gary D. Harvey, PhD., (76) of Festus, Missouri, was born to Emery and Velma Harvey and entered into rest Tuesday, February 9, 2021, in Town and Country, Missouri.
He is preceded in death by his parents.
He is survived by, his loving wife of 30 years, Rosemary , his beloved daughter, Anna Rose (Austin), his sister, Janet (Frank) Wendling, his cherished dog, Pages , nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends.
Gary received his PhD in environmental education. He was the director of environmental education for the Conservation Department for many years. It was Gary’s honor to be able to homeschool his daughter through high school. He was intelligent and patient as a teacher and it brought him joy and satisfaction. He was a wiz at recalling historical facts. He was the man that read every card at a museum because he was fascinated with learning. Gary had a dry and witty sense of humor. He had a sixth sense when it came to computers or any technology really. Gary loved animals but if you had a moment, he was always happy to share how proud he was of Anna Rose. His family was what made him the happiest in life. It is important here to mention one of his beloved family members, Page, his dog. Gary would end his day watching Blue Bloods with Page on his lap, both eating cabbage.
Since 2005 Gary dealt with many medical issues and survived events the doctors believed no one could survive. His cardiologist once told him, “He was a man with 9 lives that used all 10 of them”. He will be fondly remembered and dearly missed by all who knew and loved him.
