Gary Edward Maier passed away peacefully on April 28th, 2024, with his beloved wife by his side. He was born in St. Louis, MO on September 4th, 1946, he graduated from Mehlville High School, then proceeded to Kansas State University (K-State) where he graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Building Construction and served in the Army from 1969 to 1972. He was a prominent project developer for 38 years who managed both national and local hospital building projects. When Gary wasn’t attending a Cardinals game or the latest movie with his son, he could be found reading espionage and historical novels, with a special interest in the Civil War and WWII. At the age of 45, he began training and competing in triathlons, eventually moving on to successfully competing in Ironman competitions.
Gary is survived by his beloved wife of 55 years, Susan (Price) Maier, his son Andy (Katie) Maier, and his grandson Ben Maier, as well as his sister Barbara (James) Pinkerton and his sister-in-law Frances (Terry) Gosch, including many nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents, Walter and Hilda Maier, his parents-in-law, Thomas and Frances Price, his brother-in-law, Thomas Price Jr. and his two grandchildren Jack and Emily Maier.
