George Wallace Umberger, 80, passed away into the arms of the Lord on Wednesday, February 9, 2022, in Granbury, Texas. He was born November 28, 1941, in Baton Rouge, Louisiana to George Washington Umberger and Claudia Virginia Loper Umberger.

George served in the United States Air Force during the Vietnam War and was an Electrical Engineer. He was a member of the Granbury VFW Post. He was a very smart and intelligent man that could build or do just about anything. He was a very good carpenter, he made model airplanes and even built his own airplane that he eventually sold. George also received his pilot license and enjoyed flying as well as riding his Harley-Davidson. He loved and was always playing music. George was a great cook, a chef that would make up his own recipes for all to enjoy. He was an individual that was always helpful to and there for his friends, whatever their needs might have been.

George was preceded in death by his parents, brother, Joseph Richard Umberger, sister, Sharon Umberger and by his second wife, Cheryl Beever Umberger.

He is survived by his daughter, Sancy Gail Thomas and husband Alton Thomas, daughter, Sandra D. Tague; brother, Benjamin Webb Umberger and wife Annette; his first wife and the mother of his daughters, Connie Davison; grandson, Cody Thomas and wife Amber; granddaughter, Keli Chaney and husband Colton; grandson, Cason Worley; great-grandson, Gatlin Chaney; step-daughter, Tammy Whitthause and husband Raymond; step-son, Tim Beever and wife Cindy.

Visitation will be from 5pm to 7pm, Tuesday, February 15, 2022, at Wiley Funeral Home Chapel in Granbury, Texas.
Graveside services and burial with Military Honors will be scheduled at a later date at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery in St. Louis, Missouri following a visitation and viewing at John L. Ziegenhein & Sons Funeral Home in St. Louis, Missouri.
