Georgian Margaret Scholbe

Georgian Margaret Scholbe, nee Phelps, passed away May 22, 2023, at the age of 76. Daughter of the late Wilson and the late Frances Phelps; beloved wife of Edward Scholbe; cherished mother to her daughters Sherri Sellers (Jason) and Michele Leon (Rafael); dear grandmother to Leah Patten, Emily Leon, Jonah Patten, and Mia Leon; sister of Kathleen Olsen (Dennis), Deborah Phelps (Dave), the late Peggy Carosella (Leo), the late Ronald Phelps (Dar), the late Robert Phelps (Twila), the late Sharon Candelario (Lino), the late Thomas Phelps (Betty), the late Guy Phelps (Maggie), the late Michael Phelps (Debbie); mother-in-law of the lat e Donald Patten. Georgian is also survived by many other relatives and friends.

Georgian had many interests and accomplishments and shared much in her lifetime. She graduated from Affton High School where she participated in Badminton Championships, played Varsity Volleyball, and was a champion bowler. Georgian continued to be known in her community as a member in Bible Study Fellowship children’s leadership, Children’s Awana Leader, as a Girl Scout leader, and served as a volunteer cook at Turkey Hill Ranch Bible Camp for many summers. Professionally, Georgian worked as a bookkeeper and then as a clown before engaging the caregiving service.

A visitation will be held on Tuesday May 30, 2023, from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. at John L. Ziegenhein & Sons South City Chapel, 7027 Gravois Ave. St. Louis, MO 63116. Funeral service will be held the following morning, Wednesday May 31, 2023, at 10:00 a.m., also at the funeral home. Interment in Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery.
