Obituary

Ginger Kay Phoenix, nee Winchester, entered into rest late on Friday, October 9, 2026, at the age of 74. Beloved wife of Larry Ray Phoenix; devoted mother of Matt (Jaime) Phoenix, Chris (Mandy) Phoenix, and Amanda (Joe) Monteleone; treasured grandmother of Cecilia, Petey, AJ, Parker, Aiden, Leila, Addy, Mia, Joey, and Luca; and cherished aunt to Tim, Terry, Beth, and Amy. Ginger is also survived by many other relatives and dear friends. Preceded in death by and reunited with beloved parents Otis and Virginia, nee Lane, Winchester, and siblings, Stan, Georgia, and Sue.

Ginger dedicated more than three decades of her life to Southwestern Bell Telecommunications and AT&T, building a remarkable career defined by hard work, adaptability, and excellence. Beginning as a switchboard operator, she embraced every opportunity for growth and advancement, ultimately retiring as a Senior Business Analyst. Along the way, she served in nearly every role available, earning the respect and admiration of colleagues through her dedication, knowledge, and unwavering commitment.

While Ginger found fulfillment in her professional accomplishments, her greatest joy was always her family. She treasured the time spent with those she loved most and took immense pride in her grandchildren, who brought endless happiness to her life. Ginger shared a deep and enduring bond with her husband, Larry, with whom she shared more than 50 years. She also held a special place in her heart for her beloved dog, Molly, whose loyal companionship brought her comfort and joy.

Ginger will be remembered for her strength, devotion, kindness, and the love she so freely shared with family and friends. Her legacy lives on in the countless lives she touched and the cherished memories she leaves behind. May she rest in peace.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are appreciated to American Diabetes Association in Ginger’s honor.

A visitation for Ginger’s friends and family to gather and share memories will be held on Monday, October 19, 2026, at John L. Ziegenhein & Sons South County Parlors from 1:00 PM until her 3:30 PM prayer service.
