James, fortified with the Sacraments of the Holy Catholic Church, passed away with his family at his side on March 25th, 2023, at the age of 91.
Born January 26, 1932, the only child of James and Mary (Thomas) Duggan in St. Louis, Missouri. He was a graduate of Christian Brothers College High School (1949) and Washington University (1959) with a degree in chemical engineering. He joined the U.S. military after high school and built jet engines. While serving he became a ping pong champion and continued playing well into his 60’s, competing in the Senior Olympics.
James loved music and began his musical career at the age of 4, learning to play the piano, and by high school played five instruments and had his own orchestra which played events in the St. Louis area. He was a master of all trades and had a brilliant mind. He was an avid traveler with his wife in the U.S. and Europe. He loved going to Disney World and shared his love of it with his grandchildren and initiated annual trips to Disney. He loved family so much he planned family trips to the beach, having the whole family stay in one home on the beach. He loved the family gatherings at the lake house, enjoying the boat rides and watching the grandkids. He also worked on family genealogy for years as he traveled.
James was preceded in death by his wife of 62 years, Patricia (Klaric), two weeks to the day. She called him to join her. He is survived by their three daughters Mary Pat (Dave), Kathy (Dan), and Diane (Kirk). Loving grandfather to James, Carly, Lauren, John, Jennifer, Jessica, Katie, and Jay.
He will be greatly missed.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, March 30, 2023, from 9:30 am until Mass at 10:00 am at St. John Nepomuk Catholic Church, 1625 S. 11th Street, Saint Louis, MO 63104. Interment following Mass at Resurrection Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers memorial donations can be made to Stray Rescue of St. Louis, 2320 Pine Street, Saint Louis, MO 63103.
