Janice Bingenheimer Emich, 94, of Miami, Florida passed away on January 23, 2024. She was born on October 1, 1929, in St. Louis, Missouri. Janice was a beloved mother, accomplished musician, dedicated teacher, and animal welfare advocate. During the 1940s and 1950s Janice was a member of the popular Pat Miller Orchestra, showcasing her musical talents on the saxophone, clarinet, piano, and accordion. She brought joy to many through her performances and shared her love for music with her students as an elementary and music teacher in the Normandy School District. 

Janice was a compassionate individual who dedicated her time and efforts to supporting animal rights and welfare worldwide. She believed in the importance of preserving and protecting the well-being of all creatures. She is survived by her two sons, Gary Emich (Margaret Gerard) of Pacifica, California and Laurence Bingenheimer-Emich (Frederick Tetzlaff) of San Rafael, California. Janice was preceded in death by her father Jesse Bingenheimer and her mother Elna née Springer Bingenheimer. During her final years Janice resided with and was lovingly cared for by her dear friend Lecy Lizarazu and her family in Miami. 

A graveside service will be held at St. Trinity Cemetery, 2160 Lemay Ferry Road, St. Louis County on February 5, 2024, at 10:30 AM. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a charity of your choice. May her soul rest in peace, and may her memory live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved her.
