Obituary

Jason D. Manes went home to be with Jesus on Saturday, December 20, 2025, at the age of 47. Precious son of Judy McCarthy and Daniel (Karen) Manes; beloved brother of Cheri Chiles, nee Manes, and Tanya (Scott) Kramer; treasured uncle to Kristian Chiles, Amanda (Matts) Faye, and Riley Kramer; and blessed great-uncle of Casper Faye. Jason is also survived by many more dear relatives and friends.

Jason was a proud veteran who served honorably in the United States Marine Corps for eight years, participating in two tours in Iraq. His service demonstrated not just courage, but also a commitment to protecting the liberties and values he held dear. These values would extend into his everyday life. Jason's unwavering humanity was reflected in his dedication to others, serving his community with kindness and a genuine desire to make the world a better place, always ready to lend a helping hand or an empathetic ear

An avid gun collector, Jason took pride in his collection, which reflected not only his passion, but also his appreciation for craftsmanship. He also had a special appreciation for his truck and the endless possibilities that could be found on the road. When he wasn't on an adventure, you could find him at the gym, where he relished the time spent exercising and finding gratitude in God’s gifts for his abilities. Jason also held a great love for animals, especially dogs, which continued to showcase his gentle nature. He found joy in their companionship and often spoke of the lessons they taught him about loyalty and unconditional love. Whether he was taking long walks or enjoying quiet moments at home, the presence of a furry friend was always a source of comfort and happiness for him.

Jason's warmth and caring nature endeared many to him. He could light up a room with his presence, always greeting those he encountered with a smirk. To his family and friends, he was a rock—steady, reliable, and full of love. His deep faith was a guiding force in his life, inspiring those around him to be better and to love fiercely. We mourn for our loss, but we rejoice knowing that Jason is united with the Lord. May he rest in peace

In lieu of flowers, memorials are appreciated to Patriot Guard Riders in Jason’s honor.

A memorial service for Jason's family and friends to gather and share memories will be held on Sunday, December 28, 2025, from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at John L. Ziegenhein & Sons South County Parlors 4830 Lemay Ferry Rd. St. Louis, MO 63129. Jason's memorial service will be held on Monday, January 5, 2026, at 9:00 a.m., also at the funeral home. Following the memorial service, a cemetery ceremony will be held at 10:30 a.m. with honorable burial in Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery.
