Jeanette Y. Hornung (nee Yaeger) 92, passed away on Monday, July 25, 2022. Dear Wife of the late Donald W. Hornung for almost 68 years, devoted mother of Sally (Steve) Schwartz and Steve (Therese) Hornung. Loving grandmother of Shelly (Mark) Minnella, Stacy (Mark) Regna, Jonathan Hornung, Jennifer (AJ) Denzl, and Samantha Hornung. Dear great grandmother of Jaiden, Kaylin & Violet Minnella, Rory & Ella Regna, Allison & Andrew (Drew) Denzl and Ethan Jones.
A graduate of Roosevelt High School, class of 1947.
Preceded in death by her Father Charles George Yaeger, Mother Clara Bender Yaeger, and brothers Charles Bender Yaeger and Norman Henry Yaeger.
A loving homemaker, a great cook and fantastic baker. Her pies, cakes and especially cookies always made dessert well worth the wait. Her seasonal cutout sugar cookies and Lebkuchen (honey cakes) have been passed on to the next generations.
A great speller and typist, she could always be counted on to proofread homework and ensure reports were neat and correct. She also used her skills by volunteering in the office at church for many years.
She loved spending time with her grandkids, including babysitting and helping out when ever needed. Although small in stature (affectionately named “Little Grammy”), she probably taught all of them how to hit a whiffle ball when they spent time at the house.
