Kouba, Jeanette O, nee Werkmeister, Baptized into the Hope of Christ's Resurrection on Friday August 15, 2025, at the age of 94. Beloved wife of the late Rudolph “Rudy” J. Kouba; dear sister of the late Marian J. Weldele, Russell C. (Henrietta) Werkmeister, the late M. Eileen Pagano, and the late Donald Werkmeister; treasured aunt, great-aunt, sister-in-law, cousin and friend to many.
Jeanette was born on blessed All Saints’ Eve in 1930 to parents the late Ernest A. and the late Katherine, nee Mueller, Werkmeister in St. Louis, Missouri. Throughout her long and fulfilling life, Jeanette’s faith remained a foremost aspect, trusting God’s guidance to lead her where He needed her love and patience to be shared with others. She attended Catholic grade schools in the St. Louis area before she was called to attend the Ruma Convent. She graduated high school in 1949 and continued her religious education at St. Louis University, where she graduated cum laude with her Bachelor’s Degree in Religion and Speech.
Following her schooling, Jeanette was called to work in a multiplicity of schools in the Midwest within their respective Special Education Departments. Jeanette’s love for Christ and His children allowed her to help many young minds grow. However, Jeanette’s care was not limited to the classroom. Outside of her teaching duties, Jeanette touched many additional lives through her volunteer work with St. Anthony’s Hospital, Arnold Food Pantry, and St. Vincent de Paul Society, wherein she held the officer position of treasurer with the latter two organizations.
In 1988, God called Jeanette in a different direction when she received exclaustration and was engaged to Rudolph “Rudy” Kouba and blessedly married him the following year. Jeanette’s work as a Special Education teacher continued until her retirement in 1993.
Jeanette touched a myriad of lives with God’s grace and she will be greatly missed by all who had the blessing of knowing her, but we rejoice that she is with The Lord. May she rest in eternal peace.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are appreciated to St. Vincent de Paul Society in Jeanette’s honor.
