May, Jeanie A., of Saint Louis, Missouri, was born to August and Josephine Knobbe and entered into rest Sunday, December 19, 2021, in her hometown at the age of 93.
She is preceded in death by her parents, her former husband of 26 years, Joseph F. Hoedel and her identical twin sister, Joan Sucher.
She is survived by, husband of twenty-eight years, Walter C. May, Jr., four (4) children, Jill (David) Hunter, Judy Hoedel, Jan (Mike) Gessel and Joy Elder, four (4) grandchildren, four (4) great grandchildren, many other relatives and friends.
Jeanie was a singer and entertainer around town in the 1970’s known as Jeanie Hodell. She performed at Busch Stadium where she sang the National Anthem. She and her sister, Joan were known as the Knobbe Twins. Jeanie was a loving mother to her four daughters. She retired from Southwestern Bell where she worked for many years. Jeanie enjoyed singing in her church choir at Concord Trinity United Methodist Church. She will be fondly remembered and dearly missed by all who knew and loved her.
Memorial donations may be made to Cardinal Glennon Children’s Hospital, 1465 South Grand Boulevard, Saint Louis, MO 63104.
Visitation will be December 29, 2021, from 4:00 pm until 7:00 pm with Service December 30, 2021, at 11:00 am. Doors will open at 10:00 am. Both will be held at John L. Ziegenhein & Sons, 4830 Lemay Ferry Road, Saint Louis, MO 63129. Interment to follow at Resurrection Cemetery.
