Obituary

Jeanna Lea Cox, nee Baxter, entered into peaceful rest following a long battle with cancer on the morning of Friday, March 13, 2026, at the age of 59. Devoted mother of Jade (Alex Peiffer) Werner, Chase Cobb, the late Theodore “Eli” Huson, and the late Chastity May Cobb; cherished grandmother of Zowie Werner, Nathaneal Werner, and Ryan Jarvis; and beloved wife of Norman Cox. Jeanna is also survived by many other dear relatives and friends.

Born on December 2, 1966, to gleeful parents, Fred Wayne Baxter and Linda Dawson, Jeanna brought joy and love wherever she went, leaving behind a legacy defined by her genuine care and free-spiritedness.

Throughout her life, Jeanna dedicated herself to helping others through her work as a certified nurse assistant. The career she built was one where her gentle hands and empathetic soul comforted countless individuals in their times of need, and her work stood as a testament to her nurturing spirit.

Beyond her professional life, Jeanna’s greatest joy came from her family. She adored her children and grandchildren, finding immense happiness in creating lasting memories with them. Whether it was sharing quiet moments or bursts of laughter, Jeanna cherished every opportunity to bond with her beloved family, holding them close in her heart as a source of endless love and joy.

Jeanna had a deep and abiding love for her siblings, Ronda McKinster and Andrew Bankston. Their lifelong bond brought her strength and comfort throughout the years, and she treasured the memories and laughter they shared. Later in life, Jeanna experienced a profound and unexpected blessing when she discovered her beloved sister, Stacey Brock, through an AncestryDNA test. This newfound connection filled her heart with even more love and gratitude, and she embraced Stacey as a true sister in every sense. Jeanna’s devotion to her siblings was a testament to her generous spirit and her capacity to welcome love in all its forms.

Jeanna Lea Cox’s journey from her formative years in Denver, Colorado, to Bonne Terre, Missouri, traces the story of a woman who embraced life with openness and grace. Her free-spirited nature was evident in all she did, inspiring those around her to live more fully and love more deeply.

Jeanna’s legacy lives on most powerfully in her children and grandchildren. She instilled in them formidable traits—intelligence, determination, and, most importantly, acceptance, empathy, and compassion for others. These qualities, passed down through her example and guidance, continue to shape and inspire those she loved. Her family carries forward her enduring spirit, making the world a kinder and stronger place in her memory.

Jeanna’s legacy of kindness and devotion will continue to echo in the lives she touched and the precious memories held by her cherished children and grandchildren.

As we remember Jeanna, we celebrate a life filled with compassion, affection, and the quiet strength of one who cared deeply and loved fiercely. Though she has left this world, her spirit remains a bright light in the hearts of those who knew her. She will be greatly missed.
