Johanna “Jo” Osborn Taylor was born in St. Louis, MO in 1936 to Lela and Bryan Osborn of Macks Creek, MO. She attended Mehlville High School and graduated from Southeast Missouri State University with a Bachelor’s Degree in high School English. She returned to Mehlville High School and was a highly esteemed English teacher there for 25 years. She obtained her Master’s Degree from Webster University. Jo loved her family, friends, church, reading novels, playing golf, and Cardinals Baseball.
Jo was preceded in death by her beloved parents Lela and Bryan Osborn; and siblings Alden (Virginia, Mary) Osborn and Aldyth (David) Gragg. She is survived by her beloved sister Phyllis (Ray) Gillespie; cherished daughter Sue Shannon (Marty) Griggs and cherished son Steve (Laurie) Shannon; treasured granddaughters Lauren (Joe) Griggs Mueller and Kristen (Dan) Griggs Otten; and blessed great-grandchildren Liam, Judah, and Adeline Mueller, and Tessa and Oliver Otten; nieces, nephews, and many dear friends.
Jo’s visitation will be held on Saturday August 17, 2024, at John L. Ziegenhein & Sons South County Chapel, 4830 Lemay Ferry Rd. St. Louis, MO 63129, from 9:00 a.m. until funeral service at 10:00 a.m.
Memorial donations to the National Scleroderma Foundation, Multiple Sclerosis Association, and American Cancer Society are appreciated.
