John Richard Troyke, age 68 of Glen Carbon, IL passed away on May 10, 2023, at St. Louis Altenheim Boutique Senior Living. He was born on Nov. 3, 1954, in Elgin, IL. At Age 10, the family moved to Mt. Lebeanon, PA outskirt of Pittsburgh. After graduating from Southern University of Florida with BS degree in Biology, he joined the US Marine Corps and served for 12 years. He was married to his wife Mrs. Elizabeth S. Troyke for 42 years. His last station was in Norfolk, VA where he was honorably discharged as Captain. Soon after, his family moved to Glen Carbon, IL while working for Georgia Pacific. He traveled across US and Central America providing technical services to paper mill machinery for 29 years.

Mr. Troyke loved the outdoor life, loved fishing, and gardening. His favorite hobbies were smoking cigars around his fish pond and model trains. For several years, he was the President of Glen Carbons Train Club. He was actively involved in the Lutheran Church for many years.

He was preceded by his parents Mr. Norman A. Troyke and Mrs. Gertrude G. Troyke, and his brother-in-law Mr. Michael Sesola. He is survived by his loving wife Mrs. Elizabeth S. Troyke, his children: Paul T. Diaz (his wife Karen), Jai A. Diaz, and John N. Troyke, his grandchildren Ra Luft and Nathaniel Diaz, along with his siblings Mrs. Carla M. Sesola and Mr. James F. Troyke (his wife Alicia) and nephews: Paul, Kevin, and Bruce Troyke.

Memorial will be held on Monday May 15, 2023, at 10:00 a.m. at St. Louis Altenheim Boutique Senior Living, 5408 S. Broadway, St. Louis, MO 63111. Phone (314) 353-7225.
