"Z" THE AMERICAN DREAM IS STILL ALIVE John Tumminello, Co-founder and past president of Lucia's Pizza Company for 22 years made his transition on September 24th, 2011. During his life John accomplished the tru American dream. The shut down of the Chrysler plant in Fenton, Missouri in 1980 left John unemployed after 17 years of service. At the age of 35, John was too young to retire so he pursued the "American Dream" to provide for his family. In partnership with his mother, Lucia, and brother, Anthony; John bought a small pizza parlor and Lucia's Pizza Company was born. John immediately hit the streets and knocked on the doors of every local grocery store to sell his pizza. The St. Louis market embraced the pizza as the only frozen pizza with provel cheese on a thin crust. This trademark pizza became a St. Louis classic and was eventually found in the frozen food aisle of every grocery store. Over 22 years the company expanded and moved three times in order to accommodate the increased manufacturing needs. With hard work and long hours John Tumminello was able to turn a small pizza parlor into an 8,000 square foot manufacturing and distribution facility producing thousands of pizzas a day. John was a true sucess and proved that the "American Dream" is possible.
