64, Was called home on December 18, 2021. Husband of Pat Van de Riet, father of Valerie (Ryan) Giamalva and John Van de Riet IV, grandfather of Mason, Leah, and Dominic, sister of Glenda Garrett and Jean Gruhala, brother-in-law, uncle, cousin, and friend.

John enjoyed sport catch and release fishing of all kinds (especially sharks), and playing with and walking his dog Skye at Jefferson Barracks Park. He was an employee of Essex Industries for 30+ years. He was a member of White Flag Christian church. He loved playing with his grandchildren and lived for his family.

Services: Visitation, Monday, December 27, 2021, from 4:00- 8:00 p.m. Funeral Service, Tuesday, December 28, 2021, at 10:00 a.m.. All will be held at John L. Ziegenhein & Sons, 4830 Lemay Ferry Road, St. Louis, MO 63129. Interment to follow service at Resurrection Cemetery.
