Joseph Peter Manczuk

March 4, 1948 — April 26, 2025

St. Louis

Joseph Peter Manczuk entered into rest on Saturday April 26, 2025, at the age of 77. Born on March 4, 1948 in Munich, Germany to Szymon and Maria, née Szczepanski, Manczuk, of Poland. Cherished step-brother to the late Casimir Beben. Survived by step-brother Peter Beben, his wife Rebecca and their children Stefan and Danielle of Ohio. Dearest and longtime friend to many, especially Jeanine and Jim Wrightson, and their son James, of Virginia, as well as Jamie and Kim Lancaster of Missouri.

Incredibly intelligent, Joseph would go on to earn his Master's Degree in Political Science from Ohio State University where he also pursued a Doctorate of Philosophy. He made a career as a Chief Underwriter at Reinsurance Group of America where he worked for 40 years and retired as their Vice President.

Outside of his career, Joseph is remembered as a neighbor and friend to many wonderful families, especially those in his longtime development. He loved to travel the world, taking many beautiful photographs along the way. He very much enjoyed being a bookworm, especially when it came to Tom Clancy novels. He held many beloved hobbies, many of which ring-true with a warm sense of nostalgia. Famous for his highly-skilled automotive work as a model car mechanic. Known to many as a collector of trains, anywhere from freight cars, to passenger cars, to locomotives, even entire towns and landscapes.

Joseph always cherished his Christmas vacations with the Wrightson family in Virginia, where he and his buddies, Jim and James, would share in a tradition of setting up the Christmas train displays each year.

He was an avid and faithful sports fan, especially when it came to the St. Louis Cardinals. Another St. Louis' tradition where Joseph made many memories was the Missouri Botanical Garden, visiting throughout the season over the years and holding a longtime membership.

Many fond memories were spent with his niece, Danielle, having a great time playing Monopoly and filling the living room with hundreds of paper airplanes.

Joseph will be remembered for his famous uncanny, dry sense of humor and the many friendships that he held throughout his long and fulfilling life. May he rest in peace.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Missouri Botanical Gardens in Joseph's honor.

A Memorial Service and Celebration of Life will be scheduled at a later date.
