Josephine Ann “JoAnn” Heatherly, nee Uhlinger, Fortified with the Sacraments of Holy Mother Church on Tuesday, February 17, 2026, at the age of 89.
JoAnn is preceded in death by and reunited in Heaven with grandson Bradley Curtin, former husband, Douglas Heatherly, and parents Harrison and Corinne, nee Mehan, Uhlinger. She is survived by beloved children Mark (Lisa) Heatherly, Michelle (Mike) Curtin, Michael Heatherly, Stephen Heatherly, Cheryl Westbrook, Scott Heatherly, and Shawn (Mike) Wheeler; 17 treasured grandchildren; 12 cherished great-grandchildren; and one blessed great-great grandchild. JoAnn is also survived by her brothers Cullan (Lannie) and Daniel (Maylah) Uhlinger. Loving aunt, cousin and friend to many.
JoAnn's journey through life was marked by dedication, love, and an unwavering commitment to her community. After graduating from St. Anthony of Padua High School and later starting a family, raising seven caring and faith-filled children, JoAnn would continue her education, later in life, and pursue her dreams of attending college. She graduated with Honors, receiving a Bachelor of Arts double major from Concordia University. JoAnn built a rewarding career as an Activity Director across multiple nursing homes, where she brought joy to many, and would go on to serve as the President of A.D.A.M.
In her later years, a love JoAnn held for music, blossomed as she joined the Twilight Singers, sharing the gift of her voice to entertain nursing home residents across the St. Louis area. Her heart was always open, and her spirit shone brightly, especially through her countless hours of volunteering. JoAnn was a cherished member of the Dutchtown South Community Corporation, deeply involved since its early days, and her contributions will not be forgotten.
The warmth she brought into the lives of those around her created lasting connections, and her absence will be profoundly felt. JoAnn leaves behind a legacy of love and kindness, and she will be deeply missed by her many family members and friends. As we remember her today, let us celebrate her life and the indelible mark she made on all of us. Our hearts may be heavy, but we celebrate the memories we hold with JoAnn, and we thank God for the gifts that she shared with us. May she rest in eternal peace.
Our family is forever grateful to the staff and hospice volunteers from Bethesda Dilworth who gave loving and compassionate care to JoAnn.
