Katherine Hattie Cassell (Bostwick) entered into rest on Saturday December 9, 2023, at the age of 102 years.
Kay is survived by grandsons Peter J. Pona and Anthony M. Pona; great-grandsons Dominic Pona, Anthony Pona, Parker Pona, and Van Pona; and many other family members and friends. She is preceded in death by her husband Robert Cassell; daughter Marilyn Pona; sister Dorothy Bostwick; granddaughter Gina Pona; and parents Theostite Piggott and Arthur Bostwick.
Kay worked at Anheuser-Busch as an Executive Assistant in the Manufacturers Railway Company. Naturally, she was known to enjoy a cold Budweiser. Kay was also, as most St. Louisans, an avid Cardinal fan. She was also known to appreciate an opinionated political conversation. But Kay will be mainly remembered as a woman who always supported her family and loved them deeply. She will be missed by all who knew her.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are appreciated to The Mary Culver Home for Visually Impaired Woman, where Kay was cared for in her final, peaceful days.
Kay’s visitation will be held on Tuesday, December 19, 2023, from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at John L. Ziegenhein & Sons South County Chapel 4830 Lemay Ferry Rd. St. Louis, MO 63129. Her funeral will be held the following morning, Wednesday December 20, at 10:00 a.m., also at the funeral home. Interment in Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery, next to her late husband, Robert, at 11:15 a.m.
