Linda L. Kohm, nee Lamack, entered into rest on Sunday, May 31, 2026, at the age of 86. Beloved wife of the late Richard C. Kohm for 57 years until his passing in 2019; devoted mother of Karen Butler and Kevin (Lori) Kohm; cherished grandmother of Brian (Rachel) Butler, Kat Butler, Jason Kohm, and Stephanie Kohm; blessed great-grandmother of Caleb Butler and Carter Butler; dear sister of the late Ken Lamack; and precious daughter of the late August “Gus” H. and Virginia “Ginny,” nee Spaethe, Lamack. Linda is also survived by many other dear relatives and treasured friends.
Linda was born February 11, 1940, in St. Louis, Missouri. In her early life, she was deeply involved in and passionate about the Girl Scouts of America, which would later inspire her to volunteer as a Girl Scout leader as an adult. She attended Cleveland High School, where she met her future husband and love of her life, Richard Kohm. After graduating from high school, Linda pursued and rightfully earned her Bachelor of Arts degree in Mathematics from Washington University in St. Louis, a foundation that would support a lifetime commitment to shaping young minds. Linda and Richard got married on June 19th, 1962, shortly after her graduation from Washington University. Linda proudly and joyfully worked as a teacher of high school mathematics at Cleveland High School, Ursuline Academy, and St. Joseph’s Academy. Her classroom was a place of encouragement, challenge, and discovery where students learned confidence with numbers as well as the value of perseverance and curiosity. Remarkably, Linda continued to teach and tutor well into her 80s, a testament to her unwavering dedication and genuine love for education.
Linda carried pride not only in her professional accomplishments, but also as the heart of her family. She was deeply compassionate about her roles as an educator in the community, a Girl Scout leader and as a matriarch within her family. Through these roles, she nurtured growth, confidence, and kindness in all who surrounded her.
Beyond the classroom and family gatherings, Linda enjoyed the simple pleasures that brought joy and connection to her life. She enjoyed playing golf with family and friends, had a keen mind for the strategic game of bridge, and was passionate about her leadership roles in the Southwest Circle Garden Club, where she cultivated friendships and blooms alike. These pursuits illuminated her thoughtful spirit and her desire to remain active and connected.
Though Linda has now left this earthly realm, the imprint of her gentle wisdom, her caring guidance, and the vibrant warmth she extended to students, family, and friends alike will forever remain. She lived a life rich in purpose and affection, a beautiful example of how one person’s dedication can light the way for many. We remember Linda L. Kohm for the lessons she taught in classrooms, but, more notably, for the love and encouragement she sowed in every heart she touched. Her legacy endures in the lives that she enriched and the lessons that will continue to inspire. She will be greatly missed by all who had the blessing of knowing her. May she rest in peace.
In lieu of flowers, donations are appreciated to the Cure Alzheimer’s Fund.
