Kraatz, Lloyd J. of Saint Louis, Missouri, was born to Frank and Katherine Kraatz and died Friday, April 23, 2021 in Saint Louis, Missouri at the age of 82 years, 9 months and 15 days.
He is preceded in death by his parents, his twin brother, Paul as well as his older brother, Arthur .
He is survived by, his loving wife of 54 years, Madonna (nee Pawlowski) Kraatz, two (2) sons, James (Tanya) Kraatz and Jeffrey (Laura) Kraatz, three (3) grandchildren, Megan , Sarah and Danielle , four (4) great grandchildren that called him “Poppy Lloyd”, Jakob , Carter , Aurora , and Alex and many other relatives and friends.
Lloyd served his country in the Ozark Division of the Army Reserves. Earning his Master’s Degree from UMSL he served his community as a teacher for 32 years, the last 27 years with the Lindbergh School District. Lloyd enjoyed bowling with his school co-workers and served as the treasurer of the bowling league. As a member of the AFL-CIO, he enjoyed serving as the State Treasurer for the Missouri Federation of Teachers. Lloyd loved to spend his free time working with stained glass, gardening, and reading. He also enjoyed watching Clint Eastwood and James Bond movies and was an avid fan of the Blues, NASCAR, and the old St. Louis Browns. He treasured his family and was actively involved with his sons, including being a Scout Master for Troop 96. As a handyman, he was always willing to help out acquaintances, friends, and family. Lloyd will be fondly remembered and dearly missed by all who knew and loved him. In his last act of generosity, he participated in the Washington University brain donation program for Parkinson’s research.
