Louise Oster, baptized into the hope of Christ’s Resurrection, departed this life on Saturday, February 28, 2026, at the age of 76. Born in St Louis on October 30th 1949, she was the loving daughter of the late Reis and Doris (née Golden) Beckemeier; the devoted and faithfully cherished wife of Lynn Oster, with whom she shared 41 beautiful years of marriage; and the beloved momma of Dr. Andrew S. Oster, whom she dedicated her life to raising, nurturing, and guiding.
Louise was the loving sister of the late Ed (Jan) Beckemeier and was a treasured aunt to Ed (Lindsay) Beckemeier Jr., Reis (Dana) Beckemeier, Elise (Brandon) Melber, and Cord (Ashley) Beckemeier. She will be deeply missed by many relatives, friends, and all who were touched by her kindness.
A woman of faith, Louise lived her beliefs fully and joyfully. She was baptized at Messiah Lutheran Church on Christmas Day 1949 and was confirmed later at Faith Lutheran Church. A lifelong student of scripture, she lived to always have an answer for the Hope that lies within. She enjoyed the many deep friendships she formed through Bible Study Fellowship. She enjoyed teaching Sunday school, and assisting her Pastors with catechesis at Peace Lutheran Church. She served her church with a quiet humility that reflected her deep love for Christ. Her compassion, patience, and gentle wisdom touched countless lives.
Louise taught Junior High for 14 years. When her son was born, she poured her heart into teaching and raising him. She dedicated herself to homeschooling Andrew, giving him the gift of her time, devotion, and belief in his potential. Her love and commitment shaped his life in immeasurable ways. She embraced her cherished role as a stay‑at‑home mother.
Louise and Lynn shared many adventures together throughout Lynn’s service in the United States Navy. Their life included moves across the country to multiple cities, each one requiring great sacrifice, resilience, and an unwavering partnership. No matter where they lived, their home was filled with love, faith, and laughter.
Louise loved traveling—especially to her second home on the Big Island of Hawaii finding joy, peace, and beauty in its landscapes and spirit. She treasured the numerous friendships she formed with her neighbors there and through her church on the Island, Waikoloa Lutheran Church. She also valued personal fitness and took great care in maintaining her health.
Louise will be remembered for her warm heart, her steadfast faith, her joyful sense of adventure, and the deep devotion she held for her family. Her legacy lives on in every life she touched, and she will be held in loving memory forever.
