Lynne Einig, nee Holzhausen, passed away on Thursday, September 17, 2026, at the age of 84. Beloved wife and best friend of Richard G. Einig; devoted mother of Richard W. Einig and Michael R. (Carla Gonzalez Gerard) Einig and foster mother of Larry Richter and Luong Einig; blessed grandmother of Kyler S. Einig, Kilian M. Einig, and Christina Einig; and cherished sister of Gail A. (Dan Davis) Holzhausen. Lynne is also survived by many other treasured relatives and dear friends.

Lynne’s life was a beautiful journey shaped by faith, love, learning, and an enduring devotion to those she held dear. Born in St. Louis, Missouri, in mid-August 1942 to her eager and blessed parents, William L. and Anne, nee O’Malley, Holzhausen, Lynne began a life that would be filled with meaningful experiences, treasured relationships, and a genuine love of learning.

Lynne was a proud alumna of Cor Jesu Academy’s first graduating class on The Hill, and continued her education at St. Louis University, where she earned a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Education. Teaching was a natural expression of Lynne’s love of learning and her desire to share that gift with others. She brought her knowledge, encouragement, and dedication into the classroom as a secondary school teacher at St. Thomas Aquinas and Bishop Du Bourg Catholic High Schools, helping to educate and inspire the young people entrusted to her care.

A new and especially joyful chapter of Lynne’s life began when she married the love of her life, Richard G. Einig, on December 28, 1968, at Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic Church. Their marriage became the foundation for a lifetime of shared faith, love, family, and adventure. Together, Lynne and Richard embraced each new season of life side by side, building a life rich in experiences and memories.

In 1983, Lynne and her family left their St. Louis home and embarked upon a new chapter in the Northeastern United States. Though the miles carried them away from their hometown, the values that had guided Lynne from her earliest years remained constant. Faith, family, curiosity, and love continued to be at the heart of the life she and Richard created together.

Beginning in 2002, Lynne and Richard had the wonderful opportunity to see much of the world together. Their travels took them throughout most of Europe and Southeast Asia, allowing them to experience different cultures, discover new places, and create countless memories along the way. For nearly two decades, the world became another classroom for Lynne, offering endless opportunities to learn, appreciate, and experience life alongside the person she loved most. When 2021 brought their travels to an end, they returned home carrying with them a lifetime of stories and treasured memories from the remarkable journey they had shared.

Throughout all the places she went and chapters she experienced, Lynne’s life remained rooted in the things that mattered most: her faith, her family, her love of learning, and her devotion to Richard. From the classrooms of St. Louis to a life spent exploring the world, Lynne met each chapter with curiosity, purpose, and love. Her journey was a full one, and the memories she created along the way will remain a lasting gift to all who knew and loved her. We mourn our loss of Lynne’s irreplaceable presence, but we celebrate that she is at peace with The Lord.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are appreciated to a charity of the donors’ choice in Lynne’s honor.

A visitation for Lynne’s family and friends to gather and share memories will be held on Sunday, September 20, 2026, from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at John L. Ziegenhein & Sons South City Chapel, 7027 Gravois Avenue St. Louis, MO 63116. Lynne’s Mass of Christian Burial will be held the following Wednesday, September 23, at 10:00 a.m. at Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic Church, 5020 Rhodes Avenue St. Louis, MO 63109. Following Mass, cemetery chapel ceremony of committal at and subsequent inurnment in Calvary Catholic Cemetery.
