Obituary

Margaret Carol (Telthorst) Newhouse, passed September 1, 2026, aged 91. She was born March 8, 1935 in St. Louis, MO to Carl and Hazel (Reynolds) Telthorst. She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 62 years, Donald Edward Newhouse; her parents; siblings Ronald (Mary Ellen) and Joyce (Albert Seufert); brother-in-law, Howard; and mother-in-law, Elinor.

Cherished mother of Donna Gardner (Lloyd), Teresa Fleming (Tim), Carla Higgins (Mike), Chris (the late Mary Pullam, Christina Cummings), Joe (Donna George), John (the late Christy Ogden), and Laura Zimmer (Bryan). Beloved grandmother of Kate (Josh), Sarah, Christin (Jess), Ashley, Mere (Troy), Erin (Hagen), Sean, Michelle (Colby), Amy (Blake), Christopher Jr. (Virginia), Victoria, Samantha, Courtney (Tanner), and Isabelle. Great-grandmother to seventeen. Margaret is survived by sisters Mary Proctor (Mark) and Pat Koehler (Dale) and sister-in-law, Karen. Dear aunt, cousin, and friend to many.

Margaret found joy in family gatherings and providing for others. As such she was a registered nurse and then head nurse at Saint Louis University Hospital for over 20 years. She loved her family more than anything. The house was always full and there was always room for one more at the table. There was nothing she wouldn’t do for her children including the unofficial ones who also loved her. She will always be remembered and loved.

In lieu of flowers please donate to Notre Dame High School, St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, or Backstoppers.
