Obituary

Mark Briggs Baxter, 72, of St. Louis, Missouri, passed away peacefully on September 10, 2026, surrounded by his loving family.

Born on June 30, 1954, in Paragould, Arkansas, Mark was the cherished son of the late Franklin and Martha Baxter. He built a dedicated and fulfilling career as a Sales Manager at Metro Lighting, where he served with distinction for 36 years.

On May 1, 1982, Mark married the love of his life, Karen (Mitchell) Baxter. Together, they shared 44 years of marriage and built a home defined by warmth, hard work, and steadfast devotion. Despite a demanding career, Mark was a constant presence in his sons’ lives, actively supporting their extracurricular activities, youth sports, and Boy Scouts. An avid outdoorsman, he enjoyed camping, fishing, and playing golf, and held a special fondness for spending time at the lake with his brothers.

Mark was preceded in death by his parents, Franklin and Martha Baxter.

He is survived by his beloved wife, Karen; his two sons, Mark “Wesley” Baxter (Alyssa) and Jerad Baxter (Maylene); his four adored grandchildren, Mitchell, Noelle, Rylen, and Warren; his brothers, John Baxter (Linda) and Robert Baxter (Terri); and many loving nieces and nephews.

A visitation will be held on Saturday, September 19, 2026, beginning at 9:00 AM at John L. Ziegenhein & Sons Funeral Home, 4830 Lemay Ferry Rd., St. Louis, MO 63129, with a memorial service immediately following.
