Mary Erika Franz Kaiser, born on May 18, 1941, in Belgard, Germany, passed away peacefully on February 7, 2026, in Saint Louis City. A beloved figure among her family and community, Mary will be remembered for her warmth, kindness, and spirited personality.
Mary was the cherished mother of Tim (Dena) Franz, Chris (Cindy) Franz, Tina (Bill) Douglass, and Eric (Susan Cole) Franz. Her legacy lives on through her cherished grandchildren: Ivan (Bri) Franz, Rosaline (Trey) Stumbaugh, Daniel Franz, Kristina (Shaun) Bell, Meghan Franz, Steve (Sam) Douglass, Amy (Jess) Douglass, and Matt (Ena) Douglass. Her great-grandchildren: Dominic, Jordan, Jaxson Bell, Brookelyn Douglass, Hudson Franz, Hudson Douglass, and Rae Stumbaugh. Each of them carries a piece of her vibrant spirit and love, reflecting the deep bonds she fostered throughout her life.
Throughout her years, Mary found joy in many pursuits. She had a passion for singing with the German Cultural Society, and had a special talent for gardening, creating beautiful spaces that delighted friends and family alike. Mary shared countless joyful moments shopping at Savers with her sister and niece, showcasing her love for community and connection.
Mary was preceded in death by her first husband, Helmut Franz, and her second husband, Herbert Kaiser. She also joins her parents, Anton and Christiana (nee Huber) Kirsch, in eternal rest.
Family and friends are invited to celebrate her life at the visitation on February 12, 2026, from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM, followed by a funeral service at 11:00 AM at John L. Ziegenhein and Sons Funeral Homes - South City Chapel, located at 7027 Gravois Ave, St. Louis, MO. Interment will follow at Sts. Peter and Paul Cemetery at 12:00 PM.
Mary Erika Franz Kaiser will be profoundly missed, but her legacy of love and joy will continue to inspire all who had the privilege of knowing her.
