Mary E. Gunter

Mary E. Gunter, born on July 12, 1954, in Saint Louis, Missouri, Fortified with the Sacraments of Holy Mother Church on July 6, 2025, in Saint Louis City, Missouri. A dedicated professional, Mrs. Gunter was a retired nurse who also successfully owned a heavy equipment company, reflecting her strength and ambition throughout her life.

Mary's legacy is characterized by her commitment to family and community. She is survived by her four beloved children: Danielle (Jon) Emert, Jonathan (Lisa) Gunter, Angela (Mitch) Mueller, and Matthew (Casey) Gunter. Her nurturing spirit extended to her nine grandchildren: Aiden, Gabrielle, Alexis, Mary Grace, Brody, Emma, Garrett, Ivan, and Grant,and her mother Laverne Stolzer.

In addition to her immediate family, she is remembered fondly along with her siblings Chris Stolzer-Word, Rose Stolzer-Harvey, Theresa Wyers, Catherine Stolzer-Hummel, and John Stolzer. Mary also leaves behind numerous cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends who were fortunate to know her.

Mary was preceded in death by her husband, Gary E. Gunter, and her father, John Stolzer.

Her contributions to her profession and the love she poured into her family and friends will be celebrated by all who knew her.

Visitation services for Mary will be held on July 15, 2025, from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM at John L. Ziegenhein and Sons Funeral Homes - South County Chapel, located at 4830 Lemay Ferry Rd, St. Louis, MO 63129. A second visitation will take place on July 16, 2025, from 9:30 AM to 10:00 AM at St. Joseph Catholic Church, located at 6020 Old Antonia Rd, Imperial, MO 63052. The Mass will follow on the same day at 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM. Mary will then be laid to rest at Stolzer Family Cemetery in Ste. Genevieve, MO.

Mary E. Gunter will be remembered for her compassion, resilience, and the love she instilled in those around her. Her spirit will forever live on in the hearts of her family and friends.
