Passed away peacefully, after a short illness, on May 17, 2023, in St Louis, MO.  Beloved husband to Tamarra (Burnicle) Breiner, loving father of Jacob Breiner, dear brother to Donald Breiner (Jean) of Springfield, IL, Judy Warzala (Bill) of Albers, Il, and Mary Foppe (Tom) of St Louis, MO, and dear sister-in-law Evon Burnicle (Steve Amen) of Portland, OR.  Sister of his heart and cousin, Janice Kampwerth (Art) of Breese, IL, many wonderful nieces and nephews, and other family members and friends in and around Clinton County, and in other parts of country.

Mike was born and raised in Albers, Il, working on family farms from a young age which taught him the value of hard work.  After four years in the Navy, stationed in San Diego and Sasebo, Japan, Mike returned and graduated from Southern Illinois University, Carbondale.  He had a successful career in the insurance industry culminating in his position at Reinsurance Group of America (RGA) as a Sales and Marketing VP.

He had a passion for history, particularly naval history, and stayed current with national and local events by reading four newspapers every day.  A passionate golfer, Mike worked on his game throughout his life.  He was also an avid gardener.  Mike enjoyed spending time with family and friends at his farm in Illinois.  And a good day ended with a nice cold martini.

 In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Mater Dei Catholic High School, 900 N. Mater Dei Drive, Breese, Il 62230, Attn: Kathy Huelsmann or deGreeff Hospice House.

Services:  A memorial service will be held on Wednesday May 24, 2023, at 4:00 p.m. at John L. Ziegenhein & Sons South County Chapel, 4830 Lemay Ferry Rd. St. Louis, MO 63129 with a 1 hour visitation before the service.
